From scissors to printer

A real bracket, start to finish, in about a minute.

How it works

The mat does the measuring, so any phone camera works. No calibration, no setup.

  1. 01

    Print the free mat

Print at “Actual size”, then check the solid line on the left edge with a ruler: exactly 100 mm, or 3 inches on US paper. If it isn't, reprint with “Fit to page” switched off.

  2. 02

    Photograph from above

Card piece inside the dotted line, at least three of the letter markers in shot, even light. Dark card works best.

  3. 03

    Tidy it up and download

Slide from “exactly as cut” to perfect straight edges, square corners and true circles. Download SVG, DXF or STL, or all three at once.

What people make

If you can cut it out of card, you can make it.

[PHOTO — a replacement part next to the broken original]

Replacement parts

Trace the broken clip, cover or knob, then print a new one.

Foam and drawer inserts

Tool cut-outs sized to the millimetre.

Brackets and mounts

Shape it in card until it fits, then make it for real.

Laser and CNC templates

Clean DXF and SVG for LightBurn, Inkscape or your CAD.

Models, props and jigs

Cosplay plates, scenery, drilling guides and spacers.

Assistive aids

Made to fit your hands, not the average ones

Off-the-shelf aids are designed for nobody in particular. Shape a grip, key turner or tap lever in card until it feels right, for you or someone you care for, then make it for real.

No CAD skills needed: if you can draw round it and cut it out, you can make it.

Hi, I'm Phillip.

[FOUNDER STORY — 3 or 4 short sentences in your own words: how Wonky Peg got its name, why you built CardToCAD, and why assistive aids matter to you.]

I make things in Northern Ireland, and I built CardToCAD so anyone who can use scissors can make real parts.

Questions

Does my photo get uploaded anywhere?

No. Processing runs in your browser, on your device. The photo and your files never leave it.

How accurate is it?

[ACCURACY — from real-photo tests]. Every result shows a measurement confidence, so you know how much to trust it.

My mat printed a bit small or big. Does it matter?

Yes. Measure the solid line on the left edge: it should be exactly 100 mm (3 inches on US mats). If not, reprint at “Actual size” with “Fit to page” switched off.

Which file should I download?

SVG or DXF for laser cutters, CNC and CAD. STL for 3D printing. Or “Download all” for a zip of every format.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a computer or a phone. The first time, it takes a few seconds to load the engine.
